Internationalization, together with developments in information technology, is one of the predominant trends in present-day society, having an impact on all citizens and societal institutions. In the field of vocational education and training, international influences have been evident for many years. Information across borders and contact with other countries have become natural elements of our daily life and work.

Internationalization of vocational education and training is not an end in itself but rather a means to achieve the general aims for education and training in relation to individuals, the labour market and the society at large.
