IVETA AWARDS

glen_witter.jpgEach year IVETA recognizes individuals and organizations for significant contributions to international vocational education and training and to the Association. IVETA Awards presented in Nashville Tennessee on 18th November 2009 included:

Silvius-Wolansky Award to an Outstanding Leader in TVET, not necessarily a member of IVETA, for their contributions to the advancement of technical vocational education and training locally, nationally, and internationally. The award is sponsored by IOWA State University. For 2009, this prestigious world-wide award goes to Glen Witter, a long time educator and consultant from Canada.  Congratulations, Glen Witter!

Joel Magisos Exceptional Service Award to an IVETA member for long-term support to the continuing development of IVETA. For 2009, this award was made to Kenneth Morrison of Jamaica based on the body of his work and support for IVETA.

 Valued Supporter of IVETA Award to an IVETA member for exceptional support during the last 12 months, who has preferably been involved in activities over several years. For 2009, this award was made to Hemachandra Obeyesekeraof Sri Lanka based on his outstanding work in support of the recent conference in Sri Lanka.

Two Special 25th IVETA Anniversary Founder Awards were made to acknowledge the commitment and dedication to the organization of two founder members during the critical formative years: Joel Magisos and Valija Axelrod.

Robert D Cain Business/Organization Awards to a company, government agency or educational institution, for continuing, new or specific support to IVETA such as sponsorship conference activities, work release, publicity or publication assistance. For 2009, this award was made to The Ministry of Vocational and Technical Training (MVTT) and the Department of Technical Education and Training (DTET), Sri Lanka; and to Lucas-Nülle Lehr- und Messgeräte GmbH.
