IVETA 2010 AWARDS
- The IVETA Awards for the year ending 31 December 2010 were announced at IVETA's IVETA-CPSC International Conference held November 3-5 in Manila, Philippines. These included:
Silvius-Wolansky Award to an Outstanding Leader in TVET, [not
necessarily a member of IVETA] for their contributions to the
advancement of technical vocational education and training locally,
nationally, and internationally. This coveted award is sponsored by IOWA
State University and includes a monetary award. For 2010, this prestigious world-wide award
goes to Dr.Olga Oleynikova, of the Russian Federation [See Picture On
Left]. Dr. Oleynikova is Director of the Centre for Vocational
Education and Training Studies of the Russian Federation. As Russian
Team leader and coordinator she takes part in numerous Vocational
Education projects linking Russia with the European Community and has
worked on, directed, and coordinated many projects concerned with
Vocational Education and Training and Continuing Education in many
countries. Congratulations, Dr. Oleynikova!
Joel Magisos Exceptional Service Award to an IVETA member for
long-term support to the continuing development of IVETA. For 2010, this
award was made to Babara Herrmann for her work runing the IVETA
Secretariat. This has involved providing both administrative and
financial services to IVETA since 2001.
Valued Supporter of IVETA Award to an IVETA member for
exceptional support during the last 12 months, who has preferably been
involved in activities over several years. For 2010, this award was
made to Professor Shyamal Majumdar, the Director General and CEO of the
Columbo Plan Staff College for Technical Education. Professor Majumdar
was instrumental in making the 16th IVETA International Conference in
Manilla a reality.
Robert D Cain Business/Organization Awards
to a company, government agency or educational institution, for
continuing, new or specific support to IVETA such as sponsorship
conference activities, work release, publicity or publication
assistance. For 2010, this award was made to the Namibia Training
Authority for supporting and hosting the 8th IVETA Africa Regional
Conference in Swakopmund, Namibia, during April 2010. This highly
successful conference was attended by 259 delegates from Africa, as well as
a number of countries around the world.
